Approximate travel time from Magallanes on South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) / STAR Tollway to Taal is 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on the traffic situation.

From Metro-Manila or from C-5, take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) all the way to EXIT 50/ Calamba City. Continue driving on the SLEX until you enter the Batangas segment which is the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (also known as the STAR Tollway). Continue driving on the Star Tollway starting at Sto. Tomas, traversing Tanuan City and Malvar.

Do not take the first Lipa Exit (Lipa City/Sto. Toribio/Leviste) that you see as this will lead you to the City Proper. Take the second LIPA Exitfrom Star Tollway. A landmark that you are near the correct LIPA exit is when you pass alarge Petron Gas Station on the left side of the highway. Start moving to the right lane and take the next LIPA Exit on your RIGHT. After exiting the toll booth, turn LEFT at the National Highway towards the towns of Taal / Lemery / Cuenca. (Turning RIGHT after the toll booth towards Jollibee will lead you to the Lipa City Proper and the Star Tollway entrance to SLEX/Metro Manila)
Drive STRAIGHT for approximately 3.5 km(past landmarks like Fernando Airbase; Petron Gas Station; Sunflower Agro-Industrial Corp.,JOLLIBEE AND CHOWKING BANAY-BANAY, until you see a road on your RIGHT, before the Phoenix Gas station.         

Make a RIGHT turn on this road towards Cuenca / Taal / Lemery.
Follow this winding road in Cuencafor approximately 11.5 km; then go past the Alitagtag town’s welcome arch. Continue going straight past this arch for approximately 1.7 km

When you see a Caltex station in Cuencaon the left side, veerRIGHT towards the Alitagtag Poblacion (town proper).
Go straight for another 3 km till you see the Welcome Arch of the town of Sta. Teresita. Go straight for another 3 km till the end of the road, until you reach the National Highway Junction (Junction in English or “Tumbok” in Filipino).. Your landmark at the end of this junction is the Petron Gas Station at the end of this road. Turn RIGHT towards the town of Taal.

After 5 kms, past landmarks like the Villas del Pueblo Subdivision; the Tawilisan intersection/market; you will see a fork or another intersection on the highway. STAY ON THE LEFT of this fork, GOING STRAIGHT towards the town of Taal. Your landmark will be JOLLIBEE TAAL DIVERSION on your right side. (Going RIGHT on this intersection or fork will lead you to the town of LEMERY).

Go STRAIGHT past JOLLIBEE TAAL DIVERSION for approximately 2 kms towards the Taal town proper. Always mind your RIGHT side, past landmarks like the Hacienda Villas Subdivision and the Heritage Villas Subdivision. Follow the RIGHT LANE on this highway all the way till it curves sharply to the RIGHT, reaching the town proper. FOLLOW THIS ROAD past the Plaza (on the left side); Basilica of St. Martin de Tours (on the right side). The same road now veers to the LEFT past the white-colored Taal Municipal Building (on the left side).

Go past the first intersection after the Municipal Building and turn RIGHT on the 2nd intersection which is Calle Hermenegildo del Castillo.
Drive a few meters past the Baranggay Zone 14 Welcome Arch till you see Paradores del Castillo on your LEFT SIDE.

(Before departing Metro Manila or Tagaytay, check for the status of road repairs as this route to Taal may not yet be passable. The Diokno Highway in Tagaytay has been closed for road rehabilitation, as of June, 2017).).

This is the scenic route, but not the fastest way. Approximate travel time from Magallanes, Makati is 2 hours & 45 minutes (with no traffic).

Take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and exit at STA.ROSA, LAGUNA. Make a RIGHTafter passing through the toll booths towards Tagaytay. Follow this road going STRAIGHT till the END, where you will pass the Public Market towards the National Highway. Make a RIGHTon the NATIONAL HIGHWAY.
Take the main Tagaytay National Highway driving past landmarks like TAAL VISTA LODGE, McDonald’s, Josephine’s Restaurant, etc., all the way past the radar; Rodeo Hills Subdivision; etc., going towards Nasugbu.
Before the Nasugbu sign, you will see the SAN MIGUEL CONVENTION CENTER on your left. (DO NOT GO STRAIGHT TOWARDS NASUGBU.)
Make an immediate LEFT on the small roadafter the San Miguel Convention Center, (this small road is before the Petron Station on the left side). This small road is called DIOKNO HIGHWAY going towards the town of Lemery. (If you’ve passed the arch of Nasugbu, you have missed Diokno Highway, so you must turn back.)

Drive on this winding road past landmarkslike the Pacific Heights Subdivision; Canyon Woods Subdivision; Fantasy World; Leisure Farms; etc., all the way down to the ENDtill you reach LEMERY (approximately 40-minutes-drive). Make a LEFT at the END/JUNCTION of this roadgoing toward the town proper of LEMERY.
Go straight past the Robinson’s Mall, Jollibee, McDonald’s until the END (or JUNCTION)and you will see the river and the PANSIPIT BRIDGE. This marks the entrance of the Heritage Town of Taal. Make a LEFTturn going uphill toward the town proper of Taal.
Go past landmarks like the Taal Fire Station, Marcella Agoncillo Museum, Villa Tortuga (all of these are on your left side), Galleria de Taal (on the right side) and continue uphill until you see the 4th streetwhich isCalle Hermenigildo del Castillo.

Make a LEFTon this small but busy intersection and go straightpast the Barangay Zone 14 arch until you see Paradores del Castillo on your LEFT.

1.From Paradores Del Castillo, make a LEFT turn on the second intersection. You are now on M. Agoncillo Street. Follow this for approximately 7 kms. (You are on the right track if you passed 7-11; the Taal Municipal Building; Basilica of St. Martin de Tours; the Municipal Plaza until it reached a junction fronting the Gregorio Agoncillo White House. Make a LEFT on this junction, going straight all the way past Heritage Villas, Hacienda Villas, Flying V, Villas del Pueblo, Tawilisan Junction). Once you see a Petron gasoline station on the right side of the road, slow down to make an immediate LEFT turn. (The Petron Gasoline Station directly in front of, or at the junction of this road- is your landmark).

Go straight for approximately 1.8 kmand you will pass the Sta. Teresita Welcome Arch.
After approximately 3 kms from the Sta. Teresita Welcome Arch, you will see the Pacific Onegas station.Veer to the LEFT.
Continue driving on this winding road for approximately 15 kmsuntil you hit the Batangas National Highway. Your landmark is a Phoenix Gas Stationon your right.

Make a LEFTturn on the highway.
After approximately 4 kms, past Jollibee, make a LEFTto enter the Star Toll way which takes you to SLEX and to Metro Manila.

From Paradores Del Castillo, make a RIGHTturn on the second street. You are now on M. Agoncillo Street.
After the Taal fire station, make a RIGHTturn at the Pansipit bridge. You are now going toward the town proper of LEMERY.
Follow this street (Ilustre Avenuewhich later becomes the National Highway) until you hit the ROTUNDA near Robinson’s Mall. (In the Philippines, we call a ROUNDABOUT – a ROTUNDA).

Continue going counter-clockwise, making a half-circle on the roundabout, veering RIGHT to the 2nd road, still GOING STRAIGHTon the same National Highway.
Go straight until you reach a Flying V gas stationon the right side. Turn right on the road BEFORE the Flying V gas station(Diokno Highway).
Go straighton this winding road which takes about 40-minutes-drive, past landmarks like Leisure Farms, Fantasy World, Pacific Heights and Canyon Woods.
Continue going straightuntil you reach the end of the road (junction in English or “tumbok” in Filipino), hitting Tagaytay / National Highway.
Turn RIGHTand take this main highway driving past the San Miguel Convention Center, Rodeo Hills, the radar, Taal Vista Lodge, Josephine’s Restaurant, McDonald’s and the Tagaytay Rotunda.

You are now in Tagaytay and you have the option to take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) via Sta. Rosaor the National Highway via Carmona Cavite.– Sta. Rosa Option: Go straight past the rotunda or roundabout and pass the Public Market at the corner of the National Highway and the road to Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Make a LEFT on this road to Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and go STRAIGHT on this winding road past many subdivision developments and Nuvali, until you see the entrance to the SLEX/to Manila.
